Senior Market Insight Analyst
LOCATION: Feltham, Middlesex
REPORTING TO: Market Insight Manager
KEY OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To provide the Business Units proactively with efficient, effective and timely market information and recommendations based on current and predicted future business needs in all relevant therapeutic areas and markets. To advise on predicted future market developments and trends including competitor activity and positioning. To manage all primary and secondary market research for Merck Serono's key promoted products.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To conduct & lead primary market research projects for diverse therapy areas for UK & ROI
- To develop reporting on all secondary data and KPI tracking for the UK and ROI business (e.g. IMS data and Cegedim Strategic Data reports).
- To proactively support brand teams with relevant therapy area and business intelligence reports/updates to brand teams on a monthly basis and also proactively translate all available incoming market research information into business recommendations (both shorter and longer term) to the relevant business area.
- To contribute on business planning process for diverse therapy areas
- To liaise with market research agencies, homecare companies and other data providers in order to obtain timely and accurate data
- To manage diverse therapy areas market research budget liaising with brand teams and finance
- To develop market research presentations to brand teams including Business Unit Directors
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of marketing research and business intelligence agencies to aid fast decision making on relevant projects.
- Liaise with Financial Business Analysts and provide market information for future direction and differentiation
- Liaise with Global Market Research to ensure two communication flow and alignment with global strategy and activities. Champion UK input into any global materials and utilise global project results for UK business needs.
- To ensure all Global market research materials to be used in the UK are fully ABPI compliant.
- To comply with all UK regulatory guidelines and company SOPs in relation to the 2008 ABPI Code of Practice, IPHA, MHRA and all other authorities related to your functional position.
KEY INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Market Insight Manager & Director, CRM Manager, Business Development Manager, Brand managers, Business Unit Directors, Financial Analysts, Market Access Director and Health Economists
ESSENTIAL:
Educated to degree level standard
DESIRABLE:
Market Research or Business Intelligence or related qualification or alternatively
CIM diploma or similar in Marketing.
BHBIA Foundation Course (or BHBIA/BPMRG 1-3 training courses).
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Significant level of experience within
- Market Insight/ Business Intelligence/Market Research Manager type role within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Market Research project Management.
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Strong analytical skills (advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills essential)
- Strong communicator capable of dealing effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organisation
- Project management skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment where there may be conflicting priorities
- Pro-active approach, recognising issues and ensuring they are addressed
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Ability to work unsupervised
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Experience of working in specialist markets where no standard data (e.g. IMS) exists.
- Experience on producing strategic reports.
- Experience with BHBIA, including knowledge of Legal and Ethical Framework and Adverse Events Reporting.
- Previous experience in interviewing and
Moderating. Also experience on writing RFPs, writing discussion guides and questionnaires.
