Laughs all round as for Comic Relief

Success and laughter was high on the agenda this lunchtime as Zenopa raises money for Comic Relief

Over the past couple of weeks, Zenopa’s CSR Team have been asking for volunteers who were happy to donate either their leg, chest or arm hairs to be removed all in the name of charity. The rest of the team would cast a vote for the person they wish to see suffer. We had 2 volunteers from our Leeds office and 2 from our High Wycombe office who were happy to have their legs waxed, leaving it up to the rest of the business to decide who was the hairiest and who would benefit the most from it.

The votes were cast and verified, and our volunteer that received the most votes was medical Devices Senior Account Manager Dan Birkitt-Smith, but that didn’t dampen the giving spirit as Scott Evardson, Ian Hugget and newest team member Ryan Johnson stepped up to the mark and were happy to have their legs waxed much to the entertainment of the High Wycombe office. All were incredibly brave, and can now flaunt their smooth legs proudly until their hair grows back!

Managing Director Mark Denton comments ‘it is wonderful to see the team coming together and participating in activities organised to provide entertainment for charity. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the look of panic on Ian and Ryan’s faces and the look of sheer determination not to yelp put in pain – well done to all!’

Along with a Red Nose Day bake sale, we raised a grand total of £90 for Comic Relief. This well-known charity was founded in 1985 by scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry and was set up in response to the famine that took place in Ethiopia. This charity makes way to our screen every other year alternating with sister project Sport relief. This year, the charity is focusing on 5 separate projects in the UK and Africa, including Immunisation, Mental health, Domestic Abuse, fighting Malaria and vulnerable young people. Comedians, presenters, actors, and singers all gather together to bring a night of live comedy sketches, music and much more, and it all begins this evening at 7pm on BBC One.
