Previous job - Contracts Manager

Location: Frimley - Surrey

Reports to: Head of Hospitals

Manage tender responses and ensure sufficient focus is given at tender preparation, clarification and award stages, such that tenders are won in line with the Business Plan, and to build strong relationships with NHS tender authorities to promote the brand.


Achieve & exceed national sales and profit targets (as defined by manager)
Evaluate possibilities for tendering to the UK hospital sector (NHS, private and MOD)
Review tender awards regularly against costs to maintain and maximize profitability
Define strategies for enhanced profitability
Prepare, complete and submit tenders according to deadlines
Create analysis spreadsheet for each tender
Ensure appropriate internal approvals and processes are met before tender submissions are made
Organize samples as requested by tender authorities
Attend de-briefs to enable a better understanding of market activities for future tenders.
Collate monthly sales data
Monitoring of contract compliance and where necessary contract enforcement with collaboration from Key Account Managers
Complete contract supply spreadsheet from NHS CMU (every 2 weeks)
Inform other business departments regards inventory demand (to ensure orders are planned accordingly) and inventory management (i.e. shortdated stock)
Develop national strategy to grow sales both on contract and off contract
Build strong relationships with tender authorities and Key Opinion Leaders
Manage wholesaler relationships to ensure effective hospital distribution
Liaise with marketing department to be the major driver of product differentiation
Use resources effectively to grow the business
Feedback market intelligence with respect to competitor activity and prices, at a national level
Effective and practical business planning
Represent the brand in a professional manner

Personne Profil

Educated to Degree (or equivalent) level
ABPI qualified - essential

Proven track record in negotiating deals in a competitive environment
Excellent understanding of the UK hospital tender process
Oncology experience an advantage
Network of relevant contacts
Strong Excel skills
Good Presentation skills
Excellent level of Communication
Interpersonal skills
Commercial acumen
Understanding of finance
