After completing her PhD, Kirsty was looking to get stuck into a role in scientific sales. Our science team found Kirsty her current role, and after 1 year, we caught up with her to see how she is getting on...
What were you looking for when you were seeking a new role?
"When I applied for my current role, I had just finished my PhD and was looking to begin a career in sales. Laboratory work just wasn’t for me and I really wanted a career in science that would allow me to meet new people and talk about science every day. The competitive and fast passed nature of a career in sales also appealed to me."
What benefits have you had since securing your role?
"I find my job extremely enjoyable and rewarding. The company I work for and the people I work with are incredible, not sure how I could ask for better! In the last year I have gained a huge amount of new skills and experience that I will continue to apply to my role! I have certainly gained confidence and technical knowledge due to the great support I receive from my colleagues. In the past year I have also been able to travel both with work and independently and also explore new hobbies that I did not have the time (or finances) to explore previously."
How did you find the recruitment process?
"I found the recruitment process very straightforward, from start to finish I was kept well informed and felt supported in my application for the role."
How has your work/life balance improved?
"Dramatically! Coming out a PhD and entering the world of work I was slightly apprehensive about obtaining a more acceptable work/life balance. However, I have managed to achieve this. Being field based there are odd occasions when days can be long and overnight stays are required, however I am able to work from home when not making these visits. This makes it much easier to pursue my interests and hobbies outside of work!"
How did you find the service provided to you by Zenopa?
"For me the service was excellent. I was updated regularly throughout the processes and my questions were answered competently. Amy was lovely!"
Any other comments/feedback that you wish to give?
"I would just like to say thank you!"
